“Speaking up is a natural inclination for me, given my background and heritage, and that my very existence is somewhat political. It’s not something that is out of the ordinary for me to be feeling close to,” Lipa said.
“It’s always going to be met with a backlash and other people’s opinions, so it’s a big decision. I balance it out, because ultimately I feel it’s for the greater good, so I’m willing to take that hit.”
Lipa’s comments have drawn sharp criticism from those who argue that she is supporting a US-designated terrorist group which uses human shields and launches rocket attacks from densely populated Arab areas.
As Lipa prepares to take the stage at Glastonbury next week, her controversial political statements are likely to influence her massive following. Although the singer has the right to express her views, by reducing the Israeli-Arab conflict to a simplistic narrative of good versus evil, she risks contributing to a celebrity cycle of misinformation and antisemitism.

So sad that someone with her amount of money didn’t even take the time to go visit and witness how things work in Israel. That Palestinians enjoy not equal rights, but superior rights. They get free everything (healthcare, right to vote, not required to draft but, welcome to join the army, able to run for office) and they don’t pay taxes! Most come into Israeli to work.
