Arnon Zamora is an Israeli hero.

He was the commander of the force that rescued the four hostages from the central Gaza Strip and returned them to Israel.

Tragically, he was critically wounded in the rescue operation.

The operation to save the hostages was renamed ‘Operation Arnon’ in his honor. Much like ‘Operation Thunderbolt’ was renamed ‘Operation Yonatan’ after the commander of freeing the Entebbe hostages was killed.
