Hamas has reportedly agreed to release five Israeli hostages as part of an Egyptian-backed attempt to revive a ceasefire in Gaza.
Al-Akhbar reports that Egypt’s proposal outlines a temporary ceasefire lasting approximately 50 days, in exchange for the release of five Israeli hostages and an unspecified number of Palestinian prisoners, along with the resumption of humanitarian aid in the strip. Among those to be released is 21-year-old Edan Alexander, believed to be the last living American hostage taken by Hamas during their massacre on October 7, 2023.
