While Iran continues to threaten retaliation against Israel over the death of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, what’s happening behind the scenes paints a completely different picture.

According to the Washington Post, the Iranian response has been delayed by confusion over the circumstances of Haniyeh’s death. Initially, the regime blamed Israel for killing the notorious terror leader through an airstrike but is now concluding that he was killed by a pre-planted bomb.

This delay has given President Joe Biden the opportunity to use America’s weight to pressure Iran from escalating a very tense war between Israel and Iran into a global one. Biden has reportedly told the regime via back channels that he has dispatched an armada of naval and air forces to protect Israel and other US allies if Iran fails to back down.

“Iran understands clearly that the United States is unwavering in its defense of our interests, our partners and our people. We have moved a significant amount of military assets to the region to underscore that principle,” a senior White House official told the Post.

Biden’s efforts may be paying off as Iran may be reconsidering its plan for a direct major retaliation like the one it pulled off in April when the IRCG launched 400 missiles at the Jewish State. However a retaliatory strike from Iran’s terror proxy Hezbollah still remains a wild card.

During a televised speech on Tuesday night, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah threatened Israel with annihilation.

“All of Israel is on edge, from the north to the center and south. Regardless of the consequences, the resistance will respond to Israel’s aggression. Our response will be strong and significant,” he warned.

Nasrallah also mocked Israel’s claim to have the strongest army in the Middle East, by pointing out how it “begs for US protection.” He also defended the apparent delay in response, by claiming that it’s all part of the psychological warfare against Israel.

In response, the IDF has issued orders for residents to stay near secure areas up to 10 miles from the Lebanese border.
