Russia is moving forward in formalizing its military alliance with Israel’s deadliest enemy.
“The treaty on a comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and Iran that is being prepared will become a serious factor in strengthening Russian-Iranian relations,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced Friday on state television.
Join the JBN+ WhatsApp GroupMoscow said the agreement was being prepared for signing “in the near future” and expects Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian to visit Moscow before the end of the year.
“It will confirm the parties’ desire for closer cooperation in the field of defense and interaction in the interests of peace and security at the regional and global levels,” Lavrov said, a claim not lost on the Ukrainians and Israelis dodging Iranian-manufactured drones.
Details of the pact remain under wraps, but Western security officials already tracking Iran’s military aid to Russia in its brutal war against Ukraine warn their alliance threatens stability in the Middle East. Russia has repeatedly urged Israel to show “restraint” in its military operations as it battles for survival against Iran and its network of terror proxies.
A report by the Wall Street Journal earlier this month found that Moscow has been supplying the Houthi terrorist group with satellite intelligence for its attacks on Western vessels linked to Israel in the Red Sea, with the data flowing through members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) embedded within the Houthi terror structure.
Since Oct. 7, 2023, Houthi terrorists have targeted more than 100 vessels along the Red Sea with Iranian-supplied missiles and drones. Each munition used to intercept a Houthi strike costs the U.S. upwards of between $1 million and $4 million. Ships rerouting around Africa to avoid the danger zone face an additional $1 million in fuel expenses for each round trip.”
