An Israeli airstrike targeted and killed a senior Hezbollah terrorist in the southern Lebanese village of Kounine on Sunday.

As per the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), a precision drone strike by eliminated Ismail Ali al-Zin, a senior commander in Hezbollah’s elite Radwan forces’ anti-tank missile unit.

“Al-Zin was a significant source of knowledge regarding anti-tank missiles and was responsible for dozens of anti-tank missile attacks against Israeli civilians, communities, and security forces,” said the IDF statement.

Over the weekend, Hezbollah continued firing at Israel’s far-northern communities. One IDF soldier was lightly wounded by a rocket in the city of Kiryat Shemona. In response, the Israel Air Force carried out a significant number of aerial strikes against Hezbollah targets, including the one that killed Al-Zin.

Since the start of the Gaza war, Israel has killed at least three Hamas commanders, including Wissam Tawil, who played a leading role in directing terror operations in southern Lebanon. Israel is believed to have killed 270 Hezbollah terrorists, with 25 belonging to the Radwan unit.

Meanwhile, Syrian media reported other Israeli airstrikes near Damascus over the weekend. According to the Syrian Center for Monitoring Human Rights, “Israeli missiles were aimed at the area between al-Hama and Jamraya in Damascus,” with the “Voice of the Capital” website reporting that the target of the attack was a scientific research institute in Jamraya.
