Hamas sympathizers upped their antics on Monday after scaling the Williamsburg Bridge in New York City to unfurl a large Palestinian flag.
According to the NY Post, NYPD responded to an anonymous call about a Palestinian flag hanging from the bridge’s 310-foot Brooklyn tower.at approximately 10am. Viral video shows officers climbing the tower to remove the flag, while police boats patrolled the waters below. The bridge was closed in both directions for about 15 minutes, reopening with residual delays affecting commuters.
This isn’t the first time anti-Israel agitators have disrupted NYC daily life post October 7. In January, coordinated pro-Arab protests led to the arrest of 325 people after they simultaneously disrupted the Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and Manhattan Bridges, as well as the Holland Tunnel. These were reportedly organized by various “activist” groups with ties to prominent antisemitic figures, such as Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and actress Susan Sarandon.
Meanwhile at Columbia University, anti-Israel protests reignited as the fall semester kicked off. Banging drums and waving Palestinian flags, masked protestors harassed local NYC and international students as they tried getting to classes. They disparagingly held signs reading “Resist until victory,” and chanted slogans like “Over 100,000 dead, Columbia your hands are red” and “Don’t cross the picket line, we must honor Palestine.”
