A new lamentation has been instituted this year by the Tzohar Rabbinical Organization into the daily Tisha B’Av prayers. It recalls how Kibbutz Be’eri suffered some of the worst atrocities inflicted by Hamas terrorists on that fateful day. The massacre claimed 100 lives, with 30 individuals kidnapped. Eleven members of the kibbutz remain in Gaza’s captivity, while an additional six are believed to have perished in captivity.
Titled “Kinah of Be’eri,” it stands as a testament to not just the suffering, but the enduring spirit of a people who refuse to be silenced by terror.
“The truth is that in recent decades, despite ongoing challenges and threats, the Jewish world had entered into a sort of ‘Golden Era’ where it became difficult to really relate to past tragedies in any tangible and emotional way,” Rabbi Stav of Tzohar told the Jerusalem Post.
“October 7 changed that entire conception, and we are again living in a time where our identity is linked to pain, loss, and tragedy that makes this day one of deeper meaning, prayer, and purpose to both mourn and inspire change.”
Refusing to let distance dilute the tragedy’s impact, this heartfelt kinah has been translated into English and other languages for global distribution.
