An already contentious debate took a dramatic turn on Thursday night when the topic of Israel sparked a heated exchange between former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden.
During a segment discussing foreign policy, Biden touted his administration’s efforts to broker peace in Gaza, blaming Hamas for being the primary obstacle to reaching an agreement.
“Everyone from the United Nations Security Council, straight through the G7 to the Israelis and Netanyahu have endorsed the plan that I put forward,” Biden said. “The only one who wants the war to continue is Hamas.”
In response, Trump accused Biden of abandoning Israel by not letting the Jewish state “get the job done.”
“Israel is the one. And you should let them go and let them go finish the job. He doesn’t want to do it. He’s become like a Palestinian,” Trump said of Biden. “But they don’t like him because he’s a very bad Palestinian. He’s a weak one.”
“I never heard so much foolishness,” Biden hit back, emphasizing how he always defended Israel’s right to self defense.
Meanwhile, a CNN flash poll conducted immediately after the first presidential debate revealed that a staggering 67% of viewers considered Trump’s performance superior to Biden’s, which garnered a mere 33% approval.
Biden, reportedly hampered by a cold, appeared to fumble his way through the event, providing disjointed answers, straying off-topic, and exhibiting a noticeable lack of vitality.
