A surprising new poll reveals deep dissatisfaction among American Jewish voters with President Trump’s job performance.

Conducted by the Mellman Group and published by the Jewish Electorate Institute, the survey shows 72% of American Jews disapprove of Trump’s job performance, with an overwhelming 67% saying they “strongly disapprove.” Only 24% approve of the president’s work thus far.

“American Jewish voters are deeply distressed about the direction in which Donald Trump is taking the country and oppose many of his key policies,” said Mark Mellman, the Jewish Democratic pollster who founded the Mellman Group.

Despite Trump’s unprecedented efforts to aggressively crack down on antisemitic incidents, which have spiked dramatically since Hamas’s October 7, 2023 massacre on Israel, a majority of the 800 Jewish voters surveyed aren’t convinced. According to the poll, 56% disapprove of his handling of the issue, with nearly half expressing “strong” disapproval. However, Jewish denominations appear deeply divided, with over 71% of Orthodox Jews approving the administration’s approach while Conservative, Reform, and unaffiliated Jews largely oppose it.

Immigration policy has also emerged as another flashpoint with 71% of Jews opposing Trump’s executive orders that empower federal agencies to deport immigrants without legal hearings. It’s a stark contrast to broader public opinion after a recent Harvard CAPS/Harris survey found that about two-thirds of Americans actually support deporting non-citizen students who express support for terrorist groups.

“This poll makes it clear that President Trump’s executive actions – across the board – are wholly rejected by American Jewish voters,” warned Martin Frost, former congressman and chairman emeritus of the Jewish Electorate Institute. “The president should not ignore these results, including on his handling of antisemitism, as they reflect significant political risks for both him and his party in upcoming elections.”
