Brian Thompson, CEO of major insurance company, UnitedHealthcare, which has over 50 million customers, was fatally shot Wednesday morning while walking to the annual UnitedHealthcare company conference outside the landmark New York Hilton Hotel in Midtown Manhattan.

According to police, a assasin wearing a ski mask was waiting outside the hotel with a backpack for “a few hours”and as soon as Thompson arrived he fired 2 shots into his back, striking the 50-year-old CEO in the chest. Thompson was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced DOA.

The assassin escaped on foot through an alley-way and reportedly got into a bicycle before disappearing. NYPD has confirmed the assassin is still at large, and that the investigation is ongoing.
