A 14-year-old Israeli shepherd was found dead in Judea and Samaria on Saturday.
As per the IDF, Benjamin Achimeir went missing on Friday while he was shepherding sheep near his town of Malachei Shalom. His body was found on Saturday by an IDF surveillance drone not too far from the area where he initially went missing.
All of the boy’s belongings were left in his person and have been handed to local police for investigation.Israeli authorities believe this was a murder carried out by Arab terrorists and are sweeping the area near Ramallah for suspects.
In a statement, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the brutal murder.
“The abominable murder of the boy Binyamin Achimair is a serious crime. I send my heartfelt condolences to his family,” Netanyahu said. We will get the murderers and those who helped them, as we do to anyone who harms the citizens of the State of Israel.”
As news of Achimeir’s disappearance spread on Friday, clashes between Israelis and Arabs broke out in the village of al-Mughayyir near Ramallah, where a 26-year-old Arab was killed and 25 others injured. The violence spilled into Saturday when several homes in the adjacent Arab town of Douma were set on fire, and six people were injured, reports the Associated Press.
