Following the conclusion of the second night of Ramadan prayers, Arabs of all ages gathered at Damascus Gate in Jerusalem. The crowd of thousands hurled glass bottles, metal rods and rocks towards the direction of Israeli Border Police Soldiers stationed adjacent to Damascus Gate.

Due to the current wave of terror attacks across the country Israeli authorities reinforced the surrounding areas in Jerusalem with hundreds of additional IDF forces.

Earlier today Foreign Minister Yair Lapid toured the area around the Damascus Gate in Jerusalem’s Old City, joined by Isreali Police Commissioner Yaakov Shabtai. The visit triggered a response from Hamas calling the visit a “dangerous escalation which will bear consequences”.

Following violent attacks by Arab youth, undercover Israeli police officers tracked and arrested individuals who threw metal rods and bottles at police. Dramatic footage of the police officers initiating the arrests shows them surrounded by an mob in the area, forcing the officers to draw their service weapons to repel a deadly attack.
