President Trump’s former national security adviser, Michael Flynn, will plead guilty on Friday to lying to the F.B.I. about a conversation with the Russian ambassador last December.

Flynn was forced to resign the following month after misleading the White House about meeting the Russian ambassador before Trump took office.

He is due to appear in court in Washington DC on Friday at 10:30am.

He is accused of “willfully and knowingly” making “false, fictitious and fraudulent statements”.

The plea is the latest indication that Flynn was cooperating with the special counsel’s investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential election.
