Israeli Man Living in Texas Found Dead With Daughter, 9

The bodies of Yariv Kaplan, 42, and Lielle Kaplan were found with gunshot wounds in their Travis County home on Monday during a routine welfare home visit.

Evidence at the scene suggests that Kaplan’s injury was self-inflicted, officials said. The final ruling regarding cause and manner of death is pending toxicology results by the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office, police said.

Yariv Kaplan was going through a divorce and was fighting for custody of his daughter, KXAN-TV in Austin reported. The next hearing had been scheduled for January, according to the report.

Kaplan attended the prestigious Technion – Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa, Israel. Following his graduation, he worked at Comverse Technology Inc. in Tel Aviv, Israel. Kaplan later worked at Joya Systems in Austin from 2010 to April 2016, according to his Linkedin account, before going to work at Amazon, where he was senior engineering manager.
