National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir is under fire for his one-word post on X, calling Israel’s Friday counterattack on Iran “lame.”

“Never before has a minister in the security cabinet done such heavy damage to the country’s security, its image, and its international status,” Opposition leader Yair Lapid responded on X.

“In an unforgivable one-word tweet, Ben Gvir managed to mock and shame Israel from Tehran to Washington,” he said.

Ben Gvir’s post even drew ridicule from the Iranians themselves, with Tehran-based Tasnim News tweeting, “The Minister of Internal Security of the Zionist regime wrote to the reports about the Isfahan incident: Weak!”, adding that “Israeli authorities are mocking themselves!”

Early Friday morning, Israel launched a retaliatory strike directed at the city of Isfahan, which reportedly houses nuclear facilities. However, none of Iran’s nuclear program was targeted in the strike, with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirming in a statement that no damage had been done.

Although Friday’s retaliatory strike pales in comparison to the 300 missiles Iran fired at Israel last weekend, an Israeli official told the Washington Post that it was meant to “send a message” to Iran that Israel can strike anywhere inside the Islamic Republic.
