A Palestinian flag was seen on Thursday flying outside the gravesites of Mordechai and Esther from the Purim story, reports Arutz Sheva.
Iranian Chief Rabbi Yehuda Gerami , and members of the local Iranian Jewish community were reportedly visiting the graves in the Iranian city of Hamadan as part of an annual tradition where prayers are said at the site on the Fast of Esther.
In response to the incident, Jewish Iranian MP Dr. Homayoun Sameyah sent a letter to the Iranian government asking for more protection for the revered Jewish site.
Mordecai and Esther’s gravesites have been the target of extremist demonstrations in the past.
Pro-Arab Protesters burned an Israeli flag outside the site following the start of the Gaza war in October. They have also demanded that the building be turned into a museum of the “crimes of the Zionist regime” and to establish a PR firm with the “Palestinian resistance forces.”
