An Israel Defense Forces officer was stabbed and lightly hurt in a terror attack in Beersheba on Sunday morning.

Arutz Sheva reports that Naji Abu Freh, a 28-year-old from the nearby Bedouin city of Rahat, stabbed an off-duty officer at Beersheba’s Central Bus Station. It required the intervention of two other soldiers to halt the attacker: one soldier managed to pin down Abu Freh’s arm, while the other discharged two bullets to neutralize him.

This latest terror attack follows a separate one in which another terrorist from Rahat, originally from the Gaza Strip, fatally stabbed an IDF officer at a gas station north of Beersheba.

Tensions in southern Israel, particularly in communities like Beersheba, have been heightened since 3,000 Hamas terrorists infiltrated the Gaza border, terrorizing Israel’s southern communities on October 7. The assault was accompanied by a salvo of thousands of rockets, leading to the murder of at least 1,200 civilians and the taking of 253 hostages.

This is a developing story.
