The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reopened the Kerem Shalom border crossing on Wednesday, just days after four soldiers were killed in the area by Hamas terrorists.

In a statement issued by the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), trucks from Egypt carrying vital humanitarian aid, including food, water, and medicine, were allowed to pass through the Kerem Shalom Crossing early this morning. To ensure the safety and security of the supplies, military personnel conducted thorough inspections before allowing the supplies to be transferred to Gazan aid workers.

Kerem Shalom was temporarily closed after Hamas launched several mortars and rockets near an IDF facility near the crossing on Sunday. Four soldiers were killed, and another was injured in the missile attack that originated from Rafah. In response, the IDF carried out air strikes in Rafah, including hitting the rocket launchers that were nestled within civilian areas.

Meanwhile, the Rafah Border Crossing remained closed as Israeli forces continue to operate there. Three Hamas terror tunnels were discovered on Tuesday near the crossing and are in the process of being destroyed by IDF combat engineers. In addition, the 401st Armored Brigade has been carrying out raids following intelligence information that Hamas terrorists were “taking advantage of the crossing area for terror purposes,” according to the statement.
