The funeral of a 14-year-old boy whom Arab terrorists murdered while he was out tending sheep was laid to rest Sunday evening at Mount HaManochut in Jerusalem. Following the emotional funeral, Israeli police announced it had arrested “two residents of nearby communities” on suspicion of participating in “violent protests” after the murder, reports Arutz Sheva.

Benjamin Achimeir was reported missing on Friday and found dead the following day near his village of Malachei Shalom in Judea and Samaria. As news of the boy’s murder spread, clashes between Arabs and Israelis broke out in the Arab villages of al-Mughayyir and Douma near Ramallah. Two Arabs were reportedly killed in the skirmishes, including a 26-year-old, and dozens of others were injured.

In a statement on Monday, US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller condemned the killings on both sides.

“Achimair’s death with the subsequent clashes with Arab settlers. “We strongly condemn the murder of 14-year-old Israeli Benjamin Achimair, and our hearts go out to his family and friends,” Miller said.

“We are increasingly concerned about the violence against Palestinian citizens and their property that took place after the disappearance of Achimair, which resulted in dozens of injuries, damage to property, and the killing of two Palestinians. Our hearts go out to the families of the murdered.”
