Palestinian Islamic Jihad injured 7 IDF soldiers in a terror blast in northern Samaria just before the Sabbath, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

The attack, which took place on Friday afternoon near the village of Silat al-Dhahar, close to the settlement of Homesh, resulted in three soldiers being moderately injured and four others lightly wounded. The IDF swiftly evacuated the more severely injured to Rabin Medical Center in Petach Tikva by helicopter for immediate medical treatment.

Palestinian Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack. They released footage of the incident, showing the terrorists armed with M-16 rifles, engaging IDF soldiers before the explosive device was detonated as they approached the ambush site. The terrorists managed to escape following the explosion, according to the statement.

The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas has led to increased efforts to secure Judea and Samaria and prevent the conflict from expanding to new fronts. Recently, the IDF and Shin Bet security agency conducted an operation in the Samaria village of Silat al-Harithiya, where a PIJ terrorist planning major terror attacks was killed.
