Hundreds of people attended on Wednesday the funeral of Rabbi Raziel Shevach, who was murdered in a terror attack on Tuesday night in the Samaria. The father of six was shot by terrorists in a drive-by attack on Route 60. Shevach was buried in Havat Gilad even though the outpost lacks a cemetery, becoming the first person to be buried in the small community.

Aside from being a rabbi, 35-year-old Shevach was a volunteer Magen David Adom medic and mohel. Friends of his said that he was a well-known figure in the Havat Gilad community and enjoyed teaching young children.

Israeli Education Minister Naftali Bennett, who attended the funeral, called on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to hold a Security Cabinet meeting in light of the terror attack. “You guys [Havat Gilad residents], the pioneers, are doing your work, and now it is our turn in the government to do our work,” Bennett said. Bennett’s speech was interrupted by mourners who booed him and shouted out demands for revenge.

During the funeral, Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of Israel David Lau called Shevach an “outstanding rabbi.” He then slammed Muslim leaders for not speaking out against the terror attack. “He was a father to children, a husband. Where are the condemnations?” Lau said.

The terrorists responsible for Shevach’s murder are still at large. The IDF continues to search the area near Nablus where the attack took place and has moved additional forces into the Judea & Samaria.

  1. I impressed, I must say. Actually hardly ever do I encounter a blog that each educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you could have hit the nail on the head. Your idea is excellent; the issue is something that not enough people are talking intelligently about. I’m very blissful that I stumbled throughout this in my search for one thing relating to this.
