Israeli actress Gal Gadot gave birth to a girl on Wednesday and revealed that her name is Ori, which in Hebrew means “my light.”

Gadot, who resides in Los Angeles, shared the news on her Instagram account, which boasts 109 million followers.

“My sweet girl, welcome,” Gadot wrote. “The pregnancy was not easy and we made it through. You have brought so much light into our lives, living up to your name, Ori, which means ‘my light’ in Hebrew. Our hearts are full of gratitude.”

Alongside the announcement, Gadot posted a photo of herself with Ori in a hospital bed, expressing gratitude and noting the significance of her daughter’s name. Gadot also mentioned her husband, Jaron Varsano, and their three other daughters, Alma, 11, Maya, 6, and Daniella, 2, in her post, which received millions of likes within ten hours.

Gadot has been vocal about her support for Israel on her social media accounts. Following the brutal Hamas attack on October 7, which resulted in 1,200 deaths and 253 hostages taken in the Gaza Strip, Gadot used her Instagram to advocate for the release of the captives. In January, she marked the 100th day since the abduction by posting a video message in solidarity with the families of the hostages.
