While police have yet to definitively characterize the nature of the punctures discovered Wednesday morning, proprietor Yoni Amir told CityNews he has little doubt they were the work of anti-Israel agitators.
“I don’t think there’s really any question in anybody’s mind as to why we were targeted. We have nothing to do with the conflict, nor are we politically involved,” Amir said.
“I am born in Israel myself and my partner is Jewish. And we found ourselves on this boycott list. I factually know we haven’t made any kind of a political commentary.”
Although Amir insists his beloved Mediterranean eatery has served as a haven for people of all backgrounds, its mere presence has proven sufficient enough to turn into a target simply for embodying its owners’ Jewish identity.
Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante wasted no time condemning the hate crime, affirming it aims to intimidate the city’s Jewish population.
“Anti-Semitism and violence, whether expressed in images, words or gestures, do not represent us and have no place in Montreal. I have full confidence that the SPVM will put all the necessary resources into finding and arresting the perpetrator of this crime,” Plante wrote on X.

Why on earth are you “combining” these. No Jews are attacking Muslims. No Jews are hunting out mosques to vandalize. No Jews are threatening or assaulting muslims. It is almost EXCLUSIVELY muslim against Jewish violence and harassment. Media: Call it what it is!

As mentioned above – this is misleading. It presents a false narrative. If the paper has facts/data of hate crimes Jews have committed, to the Muslim community, you are obliged to present. If not, it is on the editor to retract this statement.
The fact is, this is a war against Jews. Not the other way around. This article is not just lazy bad reporting, it’s malicious. It implies an intent to falsify the facts to deliberately give an alternate fictitious reality. If not revoked, fore warning to the editor, you will be sued.
The media are fueling antisemitism and should be taken to task, arrested and tried for this crime.
