Hamas has been accused of causing ongoing suffering for the Arab people by the Palestinian Authority (PA).

In a statement released on Sunday, the PA condemned Hamas for its role in initiating the massacre that took place on October 7th.

“Did Hamas consult the Palestinian leadership or any Palestinian national party when it made its decision to carry out the ‘adventure’ of last October 7, which led to a catastrophe more horrific and crueler than the ‘Nakba’ of 1948?”

“Those who were responsible for the return of the occupation to Gaza Strip and caused the Nakba which our Palestinian people live… have no right to dictate national priorities,” the PA statement read.

The term “Nakba,” which means calamity in Arabic, is frequently used by Arabs to refer to the creation of the state of Israel.

The PA’s claims come following Hamas’s recent criticism of the appointment of Mohammad Mustafa as the new Palestinian prime minister. Considered to be a close associate of President Mahmoud Abbas, Hamas viewed the appointment as a unilateral decision and criticized the Arab leader for focusing on superficial actions without real impact. They argued that the new government under Mustafa would not have a broad national consensus.
