The IDF announced on Tuesday that approximately 40 members of Hamas, including a high-ranking commander, were neutralized during a recent operation at Gaza City’s Shifa Hospital.

The operation, initiated around 2:30 a.m. on Monday, was a coordinated effort between the IDF and the Shin Bet internal security agency, targeting the hospital, which had previously served as a command center for Hamas early in the conflict. Intelligence reports had indicated the hospital was being used again by the terror group in an attempt to regain control of the northern Gaza Strip.

The IDF forces encircled the hospital and eliminated approximately 40 Hamas teoorists, including Faiq Mabhouh, a prominent figure in Hamas’s internal security apparatus. Near Mabhouh’s hideout a large weapons cache was found. The IDF confirmed the arrest of eighty terrorists, revising earlier figures that had suggested the number was closer to forty.

The IDF reported the loss of one Israeli soldier during the engagement, raising the number of IDF casualties to 250. The soldier was identified as Matan Vinogradov, a 20-year-old from Jerusalem.
