The House Education Committee is investigating Princeton University over its handling of antisemitism on campus, according to The Hill.

The committee’s letter to Princeton sent on Wednesday demands details on antisemitic incidents since October 7, including disciplinary actions and internal communications. Among the incidents cited was a report of pro-Palestinian protesters on campus rallies chanting “Intifada,” along with “Brick by brick, wall by wall, apartheid has got to fall.”

Despite the serious implications of the investigation, not everyone believes that Princeton is plagued by antisemitism.

“My read on the campus climate at Princeton, however, is that such a climate of hostility has not taken over the campus in the way it has at other universities,” Rabbi Gil Steinlauf, director of the university’s Center for Jewish Life, told the student newspaper, the Daily Princetonian. “A majority of Jewish students have reported to me that they do not feel that Princeton is an antisemitic place.”

Princeton now joins six other Ivy League schools in an investigation that seeks to uncover how the university handled these acts of antisemitism and whether it has effectively safeguarded its Jewish student body. Only one Ivy League school, Dartmouth College, has so far evaded a federal investigation into antisemitic offenses.
