French authorities are investigating the rape of a Jewish woman in Paris on Tuesday.
According to Le Parisien, a 32-year-old woman claims she was kidnapped, physically and sexually assaulted, and threatened with murder by a man she met on a dating app in 2023. The suspect sent threatening messages to the victim’s mother, stating, “Good luck, you will never find your daughter again…I will prostitute your daughter.” He also allegedly messaged the woman’s ex-boyfriend, expressing his desire to “avenge Palestine.”
The 32-year-old suspect has been charged with religiously-motivated death threats and drug offenses. Prosecutors believe there is sufficient evidence to support a kidnapping charge, while the rape allegation remains under investigation.
In response, Jewish MP Meyer Habiib warned of the lethal consequences of hatred towards Israel and the rising threat of Islamist antisemitism in France.
“Thank God she managed to escape! Similarly to Toulouse, Sarah Halimi and the Hyper Cacher – hatred of Israel is lethal in France. It is what fuels antisemitism. Hatred of Israel is the blade of the Islamist dagger,” Habib told Arutz Sheva.
Habib also criticized the government for recently threatening Israel with sanctions and voting in favor of Palestinian UN membership.
