Watch: Israeli Race Car Driver Pays Tribute to Hostages After 3rd Place Finish

Israeli racing driver Ariel Elkin paid tribute to the remaining hostages taken by Hamas on Oct. 7, following his third-place finish at the USF Formula 4 Championship in New Orleans.

Upon reaching the winner’s podium following Sunday’s race, the presenter instructed Elkin to remove his helmet so he could accept his trophy. Instead, he chose to raise up his helmet, designed with images of the Israeli hostages still being held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

Elkin is an Israeli F4 driver known for his significant achievements in motorsports, representing his country on the international stage with pride. Born in Haifa, Elkin began his racing career on the Israeli karting circuit. His talent and dedication to the sport have led him to win the 2021 IAME Italian and Belgian Series. In 2022, he won the IAME Italian Series, won the bronze medal for Israel at the Motorsport Olympic Games in the SR category, and achieved 3rd place at the SuperKarts! USA Super-Nationals race in Las Vegas.

As per Elkin’s website bio, his dream is to stand on the Formula 1 podium with the Israeli flag.
