French Foreign Minister Stéphane Séjourné is expected to arrive in Lebanon on Sunday to ease tensions at the border between Israel and Lebanon.

As per Reuters, Séjourné will discuss with his Lebanese counterpart a proposal that Hezbollah’s elite unit pull back 6 miles from the Israeli border, while Israel would halt strikes in southern Lebanon. France’s proposal been communicated with the United States, but it has not gained much traction with the Biden administration.

Hezbollah has indicated it will not engage in any serious dialogue until the fighting between Israel and Hamas stops in Gaza. Israel, however, wants to secure peace on its northern border first, so that thousands of Israelis who fled the area can return home without worrying about rocket attacks, according to the report

On Saturday night, 26 rockets were fired at the Mt. Meron and Bar Yochai in norther Israel y Hezbollah. Some of the rockets fell in open areas, while others were intercepted. No injuries were reported, but a 12-year-old girl had to be treated for anxiety. Last week, Hezbollah terrorists targeted Israeli military bases located north of the city of Acre, marking the deepest attack on Israel since the war in the Gaza Strip began in October 2023. No one was injured in the attack, as all the suicide drones were intercepted by Israel’s Iron Dome defense system.
