Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir was injured on Friday in the central city of Ramle when his car flipped over in a car accident.

Dashcam footage from a nearby vehicle shows Ben Gvir’s car running a red light and colliding with another vehicle coming from the opposite direction.

Ben-Gvir fractured his ribs in the accident, while his daughter, a bodyguard, and the driver of the other vehicle were all treated for minor injuries at nearby Assaf Harofeh Hospital, according to an official statement from the minister’s office.

The crash happened shortly after Ben-Gvir had arrived in Ramle following a stabbing attack on an 18-year-old woman. A bystander fatally shot the assailant, while the young woman remains in critical condition. Police have not yet determined whether the stabbing will be investigated as an act of terrorism.

This is not Ben-Gvir’s first involvement in a publicized traffic accident. Last August, one of the vehicles in his entourage collided with a private car in Jerusalem after also running a red light. No injuries were reported in that case.
