Two Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers tragically lost their lives in yesterday’s Hezbollah suicide drone attack in northern Israel.

In a statement by the IDF, Master Sergeant Dan Kamkagi, 31, from Kfar Haoranim, and Master Sergeant Nahman Natan Hertz, 31, from Elazar, were killed when a Hezbollah suicide drone exploded near Metula on Monday. Both brave heroes served in the 551st Paratroopers Brigade. Their deaths bring the total number of troops killed in Hezbollah attacks since the start of the Gaza war in October to 13.

In response to the drone attack, Israel’s military launched strikes against a camp in the Arab al-Lawiza area in southern Lebanon allegedly belonging to Hezbollah’s elite Radwan force.

A recent IDF Home Front Command report describes the potential threat Hezbollah poses to the Israeli home front in a future war, stating that Hezbollah’s Radwan ForceĀ is trainedĀ to infiltrate Israeli towns, carry out widespread massacres, and take civilians captive as leverage for bargaining.

Furthermore, Hezbollah is likely to employ a strategy similar to the one used by Hamas on October 7, when Israel’s air defense systems were overwhelmed by thousands of rockets. Hezbollah has the capability of firing approximately 1,000-1,500 rockets at one time, according to the report.
