A Wednesday morning drone strike in southern Lebanon killed senior Hamas leader Hadi Mustafa, as per the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).

An Israeli drone hit a Mustafa’s car at a junction at the entrance to Tyre. The blast reportedly killed the commander, two passengers, and a passerby on a motorcycle. Mustafa is considered a “significant” figure within Hamas, responsible for its international terrorist activities.

“The IDF and Israeli security forces will continue to operate against the Hamas terrorist organization in every arena in which it operates,” the IDF said in a statement following the operation.

In retaliation to the airstrike, Hezbollah launched missiles into Israel. No casualties have been reported so far.

Earlier this week, the IDF targeted another key Hamas operative, Marwan Issa, part of the triad responsible for orchestrating the October 7th massacre. The strike against Issa occurred near the Nusirat refugee camp in central Gaza. The operation reportedly resulted in five casualties, with ongoing investigations to confirm Issa’s death.

Tensions continue to escalate between Israel and Hezbollah, threatening to destabilize the region further. On Tuesday, Hezbollah fired around 100 Katyusha rockets into northern Israel, marking the most severe attack since the Gaza conflict with Hamas, an ally of Hezbollah, started five months ago.
